Software testers analyse newly-developed computer software and systems to identify potential problems and help come up with solutions to fix them.

Most software testers are employed by companies that develop software, websites and mobile applications. They may work alongside software developers, engineers and other IT professionals.

Your chances of getting work as a test analyst are relatively good as more new software is being developed due to the increased importance of computer systems in the modern world.

Test analysts generally earn:

  • $40-80,000 with between one and five years' experience

Key tertiary qualifications include:

  • Diploma in Information Technology or Software Development
  • Bachelor of Information Technology
  • Bachelor of Science or Commerce in Information Systems or Computer Science
